When is it considered?
It is considered in cases of osteoarthritis that cannot be controlled with methods such as medication, physical therapy, and injections, and that seriously affect daily life.
Treatment Approach
Non-surgical options are evaluated first. If these methods prove insufficient and the patient’s symptoms persist, joint replacement surgery may be planned. During the surgery, the damaged joint surface is removed and replaced with an artificial joint (prosthesis).
About the Procedure
The surgery typically lasts 1–2 hours. Most patients stay in the hospital for a few days. Physical therapy is initiated early to restore mobility. While the recovery process varies from person to person, many patients begin to resume their daily activities within a few weeks.
Joint replacement surgery is planned on an individual basis. You can schedule an appointment for an examination to evaluate the options best suited for you.
